Professor Wan Xiaochun Led a Visit to Rutgers University in the US

From August 22 to 23, Professor Wan Xiaochun visited Rutgers University with a delegation of five teachers and students from the Joint Laboratory of International Cooperation on Tea Chemistry and Health of the Ministry of Education (JLIC-TCH).

Wan Xiaochun and his team visited the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences and exchanged ideas with professors from Rutgers University, including Kim Pernice (High Commissioner for International Projects), Professor Karl Matthews (Chair of the Department of Food Science) Professor Qingrong Huang, Professor in the Department of Food ScienceProfessor Mukund Karwe (Director of International Projects Office), and Professor Chung S Yang (Foreign Director of JLIC-TCH) and Professor Chi-tang Ho. The two sides introduced the school running, scientific research and international exchanges, and exchanged in-depth views and reached a consensus on such issues as joint laboratory construction and personnel exchange and training.


At the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, the delegates held talks with Professor Joseph Barone (Dean of School of Pharmacy), Professor Renping Zhou (chair of Department of Chemical Biology), and Professor Chung S Yang's team, and reached cooperative intentions for further research on the function of tea on the prevention of chronic metabolic syndrome.


During the visit, the delegation also visited some laboratories at Rutgers University.


Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is a leading national research university and a preeminent, comprehensive public institution of higher education. Established in 1766, It is one of the world's most prestigious top public research universities, and one of 62 members of Association of American Universities and the Big Ten Conference member. Rutgers University ranked 55 in the comprehensive rankings of the world universities published by US News in 2015, and 79 in ARWU done by Shanghai Jiaotong University in 2017. The University is one of the largest and most ethnically diverse universities in the United States with a total of 80,000 registered students including nearly 2,000 Chinese students.
