In order to enhanceinternational exchangesinfloriculture, display the latest achievements of the flower industry, and promote the influence both domestic and abroad, the 2021 International Flower Arrangement Competition was held in Yangzhou from April 6 to 18.On this occasion,70 famous florists from all over the worldwere assembledto compete on the same stage. Each contestant needs to make traditional flower arrangement, modern flower arrangement and landscape flower arrangement independently within the specified time.
Zhao Zongxiang, a postgraduate student from the School of Plant Protection of AAU, participated in the competition on behalf of Anhui Province. Zhao successfully completed 3 high-level large-scale floral art works during 5 hours of completely enclosed fierce competition. After rigorous evaluation by the domestic judges and members of the supervision committee of the international competition, Zhao’s works won excellent achievements, among which the traditional flower arrangement and landscape flower arrangement won the gold prize and the modern flower arrangement won the silver prize. The hard-won prize not only achieveda breakthrough in the floral level of Anhui Province, but also madeHui-style flower arrangement well-known on the international stage.
The International Horticultural Expo 2021 is co-sponsored by the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH), the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, China Flower Association, People's Government of Jiangsu Province, and undertaken by People's Government of Yangzhou. The event is held every four years, with Turkey hosting the 2016 Expo and China (Yangzhou) hosting the 2021 Expo. With the theme of "Green City, Healthy Life", the expo lasts 184 days. The international competition is an important stage for both horticultural organizations and individuals from all over the world to display horticultural techniques and to improve horticultural culture communication.
