Our University signs cooperation agreement with Bern University of Switzerland

On March 9th, Professor Martin Bachmann from the University of Bern in Switzerland visited our university. Vice President Yao Zuowen met with the guests.

It was Professor Bachmann's second visit to our university. On October 31, 2017, when he made his first visit, President Cheng Beijiu received him, awarded him the certificate as visiting professor of our university and proposed the establishment of exchange and cooperation between the two universities. Bachmann’s visit brought about the cooperation agreement signed by the University’s deputy principal in charge of international exchanges on behalf of the University of Bern. Yao Zuowen signed the agreement on behalf of our university, marking the formal establishment of friendly cooperation between the two universities.

In order to further explore cooperation methods, widen areas of cooperation and promote the teaching, research, and teacher-student exchanges between the universities, the two parties discussed the training programs for undergraduates and postgraduates, and a consensus concerning the joint training program for doctoral students in animal science and technology has been firstly reached that our school will send selected outstanding doctoral students to exchange studies at the University of Bern. In addition, Yao Zuowen sent an invitation to Bachmann himself, inviting him as an expert to give lectures in our university.

Accompanied are the Directors of the Department of Academic Affairs, Department of Science and Technology, Graduate School, International Office, Dean of the School of Animal Science and Technology and related teachers.

The University of Bern, located in Bern, capital of Switzerland, has a long history. It is ranked in the top 200 in international universities and 6-7 in Switzerland.

Martin Bachmann who enjoys a good reputation in his research field is a professor of immunology at both the University of Bern and Oxford University whose research focus are animal immunogenetics and product development. He has published more than 180 papers in journals with an impact factor of 5.0 or more, and has a total impact factor of over 2,000, including 11 research papers published inNature, Science andCell.
